Former President Koroma Appears Before Sierra Leone Police For Questioning

Police in Sierra Leone’s Criminal Investigation Department have confirmed that they’ve invited for questioning the former President Ernest Bai Koroma and the rest of the executive of the opposition APC party.

Koroma is Chairman and Leader of the party.

AIG for Crime Services, Ibrahima Jah told me that the invite was part of investigations into a press release the party issued in December in which they said they wouldn’t cooperate with the commissions of inquiry into the financial activities of the Koroma administration, until certain demands were met.

“That’s incitement to rebellion and subverting a constitutional instrument”, Jah told BBC Reporter, Umaru Fofona..

The CID claims the release is seditious and is liable to cause disaffection for the Government of Sierra Leone.

APC Secretary General, Osman Foday Yansaneh, confirms that the party has received the invitation from the CID and they will honour it.

He said they’d however asked for a week extension for their national executive to assemble. A request the police have now granted.
