The Sierra Leone Minister of Finance, Hon Jacob Jusu Saffa is is among global stakeholders at the Dubai Conference on Infrastructure Development for Africa. It is the first conference held in oil-rich Dubai where strategists are discussing on how to finance sustainable infrastructure development in Africa.
The Conference brought together African Ministers, Heads of Infrastructure institutions, bankers, and other senior Government officials.
The Conference also discussed reasons for failed projects and created a platform for networking on how to develop bankable projects in a way that minimize the risk of fiscal exposures on governments.
The small but efficient Sierra Leone delegation includes the Minister of Finance and the Chairman, Presidential Infrastructure Initiative, Dr. John Tambi who’s name is well-known in the development of infrastructure in Africa.
The finance Minister drew global attention to what President Bio has committed to deliver to finance sustainable infrastructure – that the infrastructure in Africa can only develop with sound economic discipline where feasibility studies are conducted not only to determine financial viability but socioeconomic benefits for the people. Infrastructure must be people-centered said the Minister.
At the end of the Conference taking place in the prestigious Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, the Hon Minister will join H E, President Bio for the State Visit to China, where world leaders will be discussing strategic issues at the Forum for China and Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The Minister will also present Sierra Leone’s case of the new direction at a two-day ministerial forum organized by the world bank in China for financing sustainable development in Africa.
