Unity Support Group Grants 5 million Leones for Micro Business Launch!

CONSTITUENCY 128 – Sunday, June 11, 2023 – In a vibrant display of community support and empowerment, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) continues to prove itself as a strong, dependable, and reliable force driving the growth of the nation. Powered by small, self-funded groups that bear names evoking the essence of the Party, the SLPP remains committed to its mission of uplifting communities and fostering national progress.

Recently, the Unity Support Group, an active women’s group based in the Hill Station Community and led by the dedicated Lydia Juana, orchestrated a remarkable initiative that further solidifies the SLPP’s dedication to empowering individuals at the grassroots level. The group organized the Unity SLPP Support Group Loan Award Presentation Programme, which would pave the way for aspiring women entrepreneurs to realize their dreams.

Amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and hope, the event unfolded, culminating in six deserving women being chosen through a casting lot to receive the first allocation of five million Leones each. This generous grant would serve as the much-needed capital for these talented and driven women to launch their own micro businesses, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to the growth of their communities.

Madam Nenebah Jalloh highlighted the SLPP’s unwavering commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. “Through initiatives like the Unity SLPP Support Group Loan Award Presentation Programme, we create an enabling environment for our citizens to thrive. By investing in the potential of these women, we are investing in the future of our nation,” she proclaimed with conviction.

The event also witnessed the presence of Pel Koroma, the esteemed Press Attaché at the Embassy of Sierra Leone in Washington, DC. In his address, Mr. Koroma emphasized the significance of such programs in building a prosperous and sustainable Sierra Leone. “The SLPP remains dedicated to uplifting the lives of our citizens, and we firmly believe that empowering women is key to achieving this vision.
